Cooperation Between İn Defense Industry
Czech And Turkish Companies

Czech armourers took the opportunity to
present themselves in front of key players of
the Turkish defence and aerospace industry at
the International Defence Industry Fair
IDEF'23 in Istanbul, one of the four largest
defence industry fairs in the world.
The enormous potential and growth
momentum of the Turkish aerospace and
defence industry and the overall growing
importance of the Eurasian region provide a
number of opportunities.

The Czech Republic was represented at
IDEF'23 by PBS, a.s., Optokon, a.s., Excalibur
International, a.s. and Prototypa-ZM, s.r.o.

Representatives of Czech companies had the
opportunity to meet with their existing
partners and gained new contacts not only
from Turkey, but also from Asian and African
countries.

Representatives of Czech companies
evaluated the fair very positively.

Jiří Štefl, CEO & Chairman of OPTOKON:

OPTOKON is one of the few companies in the
world in the field of tactical technologies that
has a long tradition of producing passive and
active hardened elements in the Czech
Republic. It has been on the market for over

32 years and thanks to its long experience it
has become a true partner for its customers.
Despite its firm anchorage in the Czech
Republic, where the main development centre
is located together with an accredited testing
division, OPTOKON has a wide business
network and cooperates with customers and
partners all over the world. Their international
experience enables them to better understand
local market needs and provide exceptional
service on an international level, opening up
to new trends.

"We firmly believe that our growth and
success is a result of our flexibility, willingness
and customer satisfaction."

Two years ago, the OPTOKON Group entered
the Turkish market and established OPTOKON
Elektronik Ltd, a Turkish company that is in

the process of expanding its production by
assembling optical specialty connectors
together with ruggedized active elements and
has the opportunity to present Turkish
products in the Turkish market.

"The IDEF 2023 exhibition, where we had the
opportunity to meet existing partners and
establish new contacts with interested parties
not only from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Korea,
but also from nearby other countries and
Africa, helped us to confirm the right
strategy."

Senior Sales Manager, Ms. Marika Kroutilova
from PBS said:

IDEF International Defence Industry Fair is one
of the four largest defence industry fairs in the
world. Its importance to aerospace and

defence companies is enhanced by the
dynamic growth of the Turkish aerospace and
defence industry and the overall growing
importance of the Eurasian region. All this
provides a number of opportunities for
mutually beneficial cooperation between
Turkish and foreign companies.
Participation in this year's 16th edition was
therefore a matter of course for PBS, a world-
renowned company specialising in the design
and manufacture of turbine engines, APUs
and ECS systems for unmanned aerial vehicles,
medium helicopters and aircraft. This was
underlined by the contacts already made and
the successful business deals concluded in
previous editions of the event, the highlight so
far being the conclusion of a contract for the
supply of APU and ECS systems for a
significant aerospace project.

The IDEF was also an ideal event for PBS
representatives to meet all the key players
and decision-makers of the dynamically
developing Turkish defence and aerospace
industry in one place.
This year's show also proved to be extremely
beneficial for PBS, further underlining the
importance of participating in this key defence
industry event, held in a strategically
important area where the European, Asian
and, to some extent, African markets
intersect.
In any case, IDEF is an ideal event for
companies aspiring to position their products
in the demanding Turkish market or other
markets in the Eurasian region.

On behalf of Prototypa-ZM, the fair was
evaluated by Project Coordinator, Mr. Petr
Hořák:

Prototypa-ZM participated in IDEF 2023 for
the first time. The main reason for our
participation in the fair is the fact that we
have been operating on the Turkish market for
several years. During this time we have built
up warm business relations with our Turkish
customers. It is these business relationships
that we have come to IDEF 2023 to support
and develop.
We evaluate IDEF 2023 positively. Our
intention was to meet our customers and
users of our systems, talk about their
experiences with our systems, find out their
needs and develop further cooperation. And
we got the information we needed during the
fair. I firmly believe that we will have the
opportunity to meet again at the next edition
of IDEF.

The opening of IDEF'23 was attended by Vice
President of Defence And Security Industry
Association of the Czech Republic (DSIA), Mr.
Jan Hamáček. Together with the Czech Consul
General, Mrs. Olga Hajflerová, they visited
Czech exhibitors and discussed the
possibilities of support.
During the fair, Mr. Jan Hamáček also met
with his Turkish counterpart, Mr. Osman
Okay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of
the Turkish Defence and Aerospace
Manufacturers Association (SASAD).
Jan Hamáček appreciated SASAD's interest in
cooperation with DSIA and the organisation of
meetings between Czech and Turkish
companies:
"The Czech Republic is a country with a long
tradition of defence and security industry and
our companies have a lot to offer their
partners abroad. The Turkish defence and

security industry also has a long tradition and
high-end products, so logically we can
cooperate with each other. I am glad that
some projects are already running successfully
and I believe that others will follow."
The next opportunity to showcase Czech
defence and aerospace companies will be the
SAHA EXPO, which will be held in Istanbul in
October 2024. This event will showcase
cutting-edge technologies and many
strategically important products in the
defence, aerospace, naval and space
industries.
